LAURA ALBERT

Visiting Leavenworth as the opening night special guest on March 10th will be author Laura Albert. Laura Albert has won international acclaim for her fiction. Writing as JT LeRoy, she is the author of the best-selling novels Sarah and The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, and the novella Harold’s End. She is the subject of Jeff Feuerzeig’s feature documentary Author: The JT LeRoy Story and Lynn Hershman Leeson’s film The Ballad of JT LeRoy. Cinema Eye, cited Laura Albert in Author as one of its 2016 list of Unforgettables: the year’s most notable and significant nonfiction-film subjects. Laura also contributes to print and online publications internationally, in a career that includes articles for The New York Times, The Forward, The London Times, Spin, Film Comment, Filmmaker, Interview, I-D, and Vogue. PHIL BORGES

The closing night special guest, on March 11th, will be the popular human rights photographer and film director Phil Borges.  For over twenty-five years Phil has been documenting indigenous and tribal cultures, striving to create an understanding of the challenges they face. His work is exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide and his award winning books, which have been published in four languages, include Tibetan PortraitEnduring Spirit, Women Empowered and Tibet: Culture on the Edge. He has hosted television documentaries on indigenous cultures for Discovery and National Geographic channels and recently co-directed his first feature length documentary, Crazywise.  Phil’s full bio can be found at: philborges.com/about.
